COLOR IS POWER

A Neon Floor Story
Lakwena Maciver

London-based artist Lakwena Maciver brings her vibrant and uplifting visual language into interiors, and introduces neon shades of wool into the Floor Story collection for the very first time. Color was central to the collaboration, and led to the introduction of neon shades into the Floor Story rug range for the very first time. Her joyful designs uplift and transport us into a festival of light and color. I’m a huge fan of Floor Story’s colorful work, and I believe the introduction of Maciver’s vivid palette and design is a game changer for the world of high end dopamine decor.

Introducing the uplifting energy of Lakwena’s art into interiors and looking to wool poms as the medium of finessing a rug design, Home & Peace showcases a graphic language, in a tufted rug which brings both a bold and grounding energy into a space.

Color was central to the collaboration, and led to the introduction of neon shades into the Floor Story rug range for the very first time. The combination of neon yellows, greens and orange, yet monochrome within the defined arches of the central section of the rug, contrasts with surrounding gradient borders and lettering where the multicolored gradient strips dissolve into each other.

“I see the patterns and colors as flowing out from the centre of the carpet. With all of my work my hope is always that it will bring hope and life to the spaces that it lives in. In this piece I’m thinking specifically about home and peace, the sense of belonging and rest that those words allude to and that I hope these rugs will bring to the spaces they travel.” Lakwena Maciver
