You all know that every piece designed by BruceGlen holds a place in my technicolor heart. I’m obsessed with their color maximalist style. When they debuted “I Don’t Look Like What I’ve Been Through,” which includes impeccably bold tailored suits, I knew I was in love. The beautiful colorful suits are perfect BruceGlen investment pieces. This collection is their declaration of resilience and triumph. I spoke to Bruce and Glen to find out what “stronger, sharper, and more aligned with purpose” really looks like. You can explore the collection at bruceglen.com, and follow them at @bruceglen. They live in extreme joy.

DC: What was the inspiration behind “I Don’t Look Like What I’ve Been Through?”
BG: I guess the inspiration was “elevation.” We’ve always wanted to create a BruceGlen suit, but the factory that we were working with didn’t have the production capabilities. So we’ve had it made here in Los Angeles, and we can supervise it very closely, which has been a fun process.
We also wanted to design a “forever suit.” We have one suit in three different color ways, so far. This is a suit that we’ll run every season, in different combinations and colors, really playing with the shapes that we can make, using those checks. It won’t always necessarily be in a check pattern – sometimes it’ll be mixed up colors!

DC: What are you most excited about in the new collection?
BG: We were really excited to experiment and try new things with that suit! Expect different iterations. We’re going to eventually do a maxi version of the jacket which we think will be super cool! We wanted to design a suit, elevate the collection, and introduce a tailored element, while still keeping our sporty pieces. Expect us to add new suit styles with each new collection, and expect new collections more frequently. With each new drop, we’ll slowly build your wardrobe.

DC: Let’s Talk About Bubbles!
BG: The bubbles were really a way that we feel God speaks to us, randomly, whenever we’re stressed or even arguing. Nothing serious, just brother-to-brother bickering. We’d be walking down the street and see bubbles, and sometimes we didn’t even know who was blowing them.
Once, in Paris, a woman was entertaining kids with huge bubbles they could stand in the midst of. That spoke to us. Bubbles represent present joy, because it’s fleeting. If you don’t appreciate it while it’s there, before you know it, it’s gone. That’s been our journey the last five years, especially since moving to LA: being present.
So we’d only designed and offered the rugby tops originally, from the “I Don’t Look Like What I’ve Been Through” collection, and wanted to take our rugby to the next level. Let’s put bubbles on it! The response was so much more than we anticipated, so we designed a midi skirt to go with it. We come from the design school of: Offer More Colors!

DC: What’s your message to your fans?
BG: Thank you so much for all the love and all the beautiful words! We really appreciate you!
